Let’s consider a question that probably every carrier has asked himself at least once: Is it worth driving under a forwarding company?
Along with this question, it is worth answering a few others. For example, what are the advantages and disadvantages of such a solution?
We consider two aspects.
➡️ As a carrier - independently arranging transports
We should then count:
🔸 freedom of decision - we decide where we will go and what load we will take,
🔸 the opportunity to obtain higher rates from a direct customer,
🔸 the ability to fully control the situation - if there is any problem, we solve it ourselves.
Unfortunately, we also have to reckon with the fact that:
🔸 while not having many direct customers, we have to use the freight exchanges, where the forwarding companies are on the leading edge,
🔸 if we have many contractors, money will flow to us much longer, and many times - we will have to remind them about payment,
🔸 we will spend a lot of time looking for loads, or we will have to hire our forwarders,
🔸 If we lack experience, we may make mistakes when taking orders, and the risk of financial loss can be considerable.
➡️ As a carrier constantly cooperating with the forwarding company:
Then the great advantages will be:
🔸 timely payments - we get bigger deposits than for single orders from different contractors,
🔸 the opportunity to negotiate better conditions with constant cooperation,
🔸 saving time – we do not look for loads ourselves,
🔸 no stress - we don't need to worry that we can't find the cargo and the cars are not working,
🔸 saving money – we do not have to hire our forwarders,
🔸 help in solving problems on the route.
Unfortunately, there will also be a few disadvantages:
🔸 less freedom – forwarding determines where, when, and with what to go,
🔸 fixed rate per kilometer regardless of the route,
🔸 financial risk - it's important to check the reliability of the forwarding company we want to trust. Reliable companies shouldn't have any problem with dispelling these doubts.
